Black-eyed Susans

Black-eyed Susans (Rudbeckia hirta) grow abundantly throughout the United States in fields, roadsides, and waste areas. They are available to anyone who notices their big, daisyllke yellow flowers among the other weeds and wild flowers.

Native Americans used black eyed Susans for many remedies, including brewing tea from the roots for colds and squeezing the root juice for earaches.
